New Applied Design Librarian!
Meet Heather Davis, the new Applied Design Librarian, who will be teaming up with the terrific staff in the Learning Commons to expand and improve library services here at LWTC. Heather is here to help navigate the resources and tools available to students and faculty in Multimedia Design and Production (MMDP) and affiliate programs, as well as those in other programs across campus. Prior to joining LWTC Heather was working as a professional archivist at a medical archives, a consulting archivist for the Zine Archives and Publishing Project (ZAPP) at Richard Hugo House, a project archivist in the University of Washington Libraries Special Collections Division, as well as many other volunteer and project-driven responsibilities.
As an undergraduate Heather studied printmaking and graphic design, papermaking, sculpture, drawing, photography, and human interface design at Bennington College in Southern Vermont. In addition to her interest in receiving comments, suggestions, and feedback from students and faculty Heather is also interested in graphic design, website design and development, human-computer interaction, and assistive technologies.
If you would like to learn more about Heather and how she would like to help you please feel free to view her Team Member Page. Heather also maintains a blog, Applied Design Librarian, which will be updated weekly and includes ruminations on her experiences and interests in The Learning Commons at LWTC.
If you see Heather around campus or in the library please feel free to introduce yourself, ask questions, request that book you’ve been wanting to get your hands on, or even just talk about the weather. She is here to help you and looks forward to meeting all of you.
